We are ...

The Lord Mayor's Company

A stage act of many talents. Our repertoire currently includes five 20 to 30 minute send-ups of Shakespearean works. A sixth is on the way as well as several other projects with a renaissance flavor.

The snows seem to be finally gone and Easter draws nigh. Amidst all these signs of Spring the Lord Mayor’s Company has begun rehearsing in earnest for our 2010 season. The props are being sorted out, the swords cleaned, the fit of our raiment checked and at last we are getting this notice updated.

As we look forward into 2010 season, we will be returning to The Oklahoma Renaissance Faire at the Castle of Muskogee for all five weekends in May. However all shall not be as it was in seasons past. The Steward of the Castle has seen fit to offer the LMC a new space and stage in which to entertain the patrons of the faire. The new stage, in the Garden Room of the Castle is appropriately called “The Castle Stage”. This puts us indoors, in the largest structure on the faire grounds. While we will miss the Laundry Stage of seasons past and our partners there, the wonderful Laundry Lasses, we are excited by the opportunity to christen a new venue and hope that we will be found by even more folks. We also are looking forward to sharing the space with EZnDIL, a fine and amusing pair of musicians new to the OKRF. Look for our stage schedule elsewhere on our site and then look for us at OKRF.

Further on, on the weekend of June 12 and 13, the LMC shall find itself in Great Bend Kansas for the first ever renaissance faire held in that city. The entertainment looks good and the management of the faire is focused on folks having a good time. Ticket prices are low and several acts we have worked with at other faires will be in attendance. At this point we do not have our scheduled times, but indications are that we will be sharing the “Shakespeare Stage” with two other acts. We will get you more details as they become available. Or look them up on the web through the Link on site.

Other possibilities are in the offing, including a chance to perform in the Kansas City area. As these matters get confirmed we will get that information up here as well as on our MySpace and Facebook pages. Until then we wish you all the best and ask that you travel safely until once we meet again. And whether onstage or not, Play well with others*

The Lord Mayor’s Company

Alistair, Kate, Beatrice, Fawkes and Gernot, as the Prop Boy

* - And on the subject of Playing Well with others the Lord Mayor’s Company would offer the following a excellent examples thereof – The Musical Blades, Bawdily Harm, Double G, Parts of Commedia, the Murder Becomes Them Players, the Laundry Lasses (or Pirate Wenches or Milk Maids or whatever), and belly dancers supreme Lily and M’chelle with their assembled drum corps. If you should encounter any shows of theirs, sit and attend, you’ll be glad you did.

As in the past Alistair continues to monitor our MySpace and now also on Facebook as well as our email account thelordmayorscompany@gmail.com. So if you have questions, commentary, reviews or photographic evidence to share with us, these tools provide an excellent communication venue.

We hope that you come see us perform this year one more time and let us know how we are doing. We will see you soon.

Keep checking back here for more updates, photos and videos.
